Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology now presents significant new opportunities, especially in the process of managing information and services to library users. As a source of information and knowledge in the academic environment, university libraries are faced with demands to adapt to modern technology in order to remain relevant and provide optimal services for the academic community. This article will review in detail how the librarian profession can navigate the AI ​​era, with a focus on new roles, required skills, challenges, and opportunities that can be utilized to strengthen the role of librarians in college libraries. The method applied in this writing applies a qualitative approach utilizing a literature review, discussing the Profession of Higher Education Librarians in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The results of this research confirm that AI is bringing major changes to the librarian profession in university libraries. Librarians must adapt to these changes through improving technology skills and understanding of data, collaboration with IT departments, and implementing strict data privacy policies. The development of AI in college libraries presents a major opportunity for the librarian profession to increase its relevance and contribution in the ever-changing academic environment. By being ready to adapt and develop technological skills, librarians can utilize AI to support the information needs of the academic community more effectively and efficiently.
